Lori D. Anderson
A product of the Virgin Islands public school system, Lori graduated from the Charlotte Amalie High School in 1975. To further her education, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Upon receiving her degree, Lori decided to return home to the Virgin Islands to spread the importance of education and to help shape the minds of young children in her native home.
Lori taught at the Leonard Dober Elementary School for thirty years and was well loved by her students as well as her fellow faculty and staff members. During her tenure as an educator, she served as the senior building representative of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and also served as a member of the organization’s education committee. Lori retired in 2010.
Though retired from teaching, Lori has still remained a very active member of the Virgin Islands community. She is a dedicated member of the Nisky Moravian Church, where she served as member and Chair of the Moravian School Board. She has also served as a member of the GESC Health Insurance Board as the Retiree Representative since 2013. As a member, she is committed to advocating for the retired population ensuring their participation and representation for wellness activities such as the Wellness Expo, produce distribution and post 65 exercise program.
